YEAR-ROUND PIECES THAT WORK FOR EVERY WOMAN
One of the joys and the burdens of living in New York is experiencing every season, which means my wardrobe has to adjust for hot, mild, cool and freezing weather. I am not a woman who likes to completely change out my wardrobe based on the season, so I’ve mastered the art of clothes that work year-round. Here are four items I think every woman should have in their wardrobe:
THE JEAN JACKET
- You can take the girl out of California, but you can’t take the Cali out of the girl. My jean jackets are my best friends. Pair them with skirts, drape them over maxi dresses, throw them over workout clothes or rock yours with black pants. Whatever you do, don’t you dare put your jean jacket away!
THE BASIC WHITE TEE
-This tee is made for easy living during the hot months and is still a staple while layering in the cold. Pair yours with black pants, a pencil skirt, chunky cardigan, or your jean jacket. Finish off the look with stilettos, edgy flats or motorcycle boots. Can we say tres chic?
-In the summer I used my scarves for everything ranging from: beach coverups and beach towels, to rocking them as dresses, headwraps, skirts and belts. Now that is cold, it’s all about layering them around your neck.
-There is something so stylish about black patent flats. I love a fabulous high heel as much as the next woman, but keeping it real -- our feet get exhausted. A black flat is the perfect way to still look chic while giving your feet a break.
LEATHER JACKET-Consider your leather jacket to be an investment piece. It’s literally something you can have for the rest of your life. I love layering mine on top of my white t-shirt and jean jacket. It also comes in handy during spring and fall on chilly nights.
